Frequently asked questions
When do custom GPTs and Gems go away?
OpenAI has scheduled custom GPTs to retire on December 11, 2026, with February 11, 2027 for FedRAMP workspaces and some Enterprise workspaces with an approved deferral. On personal Google accounts for people 18 and over, Gems become read-only on November 17, 2026 and are removed on December 17, 2026. Google Workspace accounts follow in 2027.
Don't OpenAI and Google already migrate these for me?
Partly. OpenAI offers a Migrate to plugin option to a GPT's creator, and Google says it will recreate Gems as skills automatically. Both keep you on the same platform, and some things don't carry over. This tool gives you your own copy that also works on the other AIs.
Will a skill behave the same as my GPT or Gem?
Not always. A GPT or Gem applies its instructions to everything in its chat, while a skill runs when you pick it or when the AI decides your request matches its description. To apply the instructions to every message, paste them into a Project on ChatGPT or Claude. Always compare a few real requests before you rely on the new version.
Can I convert someone else's GPT?
Only if you can see its instructions and its creator allows it. If you only use someone else's GPT, check its notice for a replacement from its creator.
What doesn't this tool move?
It moves instructions. Knowledge files, connected apps, custom actions and sharing settings stay behind, so download your files and plan to rebuild any custom actions. The tool flags instructions that seem to depend on them, but it can't see your GPT's settings.
Do you store what I paste?
